Is Facebook Home, the app that effectively allows Facebook to take over your Android smartphone, headed to Apple’s iPhone and Microsoft’s Windows 8 devices? Well according to this report on Bloomberg, Facebook is working on doing just that. The report quotes Adam Mosseri, director of products at Facebook as stating that, “We’ve shown them what we’ve built and we’re just in an ongoing conversation,” in reference to Apple and Micrsoft. Facebook had shown off Home on 4 April. Home ensures that Facebook becomes the centre of your device. Instead of an homescreen you get Cover Feed, which is built up of status updates from your friends, photos etc. It has also has chat heads, which syncs SMS and Facebook Messenger, and allows users to reply to messages from any app without opening the SMS or the Facebook Messenger app. Messages appear like a floating head all across your screen. If you have the Facebook Messenger installed on your phone, you can update it to try out the feature. However the partnership with iOS might not be so easy. As this piece on the Verge points out the integration with iOS won’t be so easy and its unlikely that Apple will let Facebook walk all over their homescreen. Even Zuckerberg had said at the launch of Home that “Ultimately anything that happens with Apple will be in partnership with them.” While Android is of course more ideal for such tinkering, with Apple’s iOS it will take a long time. Facebook Home is currently available for Samsung Galaxy SIII, HTC One X, HTC One X+ and Galaxy Note II. It will also work with HTC One and Samsung GALAXY S4. Facebook also launched the HTC First which has Home pre-installed on it.
