AMD has reportedly fallen victim to yet another cyberattack, compromising internal communications and sensitive employee information. The incident, attributed to criminal groups IntelBroker and EnergyWeaponUser, has resulted in the theft of various types of data, including user credentials, internal resolutions, and detailed case descriptions.

This stolen information has been listed for sale on BreachForums, a notorious dark web marketplace, where it is described as originating from a variety of sources.

IntelBroker, one of the groups claiming responsibility for this attack, has also been linked to several other alleged breaches in recent months.

High-profile targets such as Europol and T-Mobile were said to have been attacked, with sensitive data offered for sale each time. However, both organizations have denied any compromise of their systems, asserting that their infrastructure remains secure.

AMD, while acknowledging the claims of the attack, has not yet verified the details or provided a comprehensive comment. The company has stated that it is aware of the claims made by the cybercriminal organization and is collaborating with law enforcement and a third-party hosting partner to investigate the situation and assess the extent of the data breach.

IntelBroker’s activities have drawn significant attention due to a series of confirmed attacks earlier in 2024, including those targeting the Pentagon, FBI, and Facebook Marketplace. These incidents have solidified IntelBroker’s reputation as a formidable and malicious cybercriminal group.

The latest attack on AMD, which follows a similar breach in June 2024, has raised concerns about the ongoing threat posed by these cyber criminals. In the June attack, AMD’s employee data, such as phone numbers, email addresses, and financial documents, was reportedly compromised.

As with any data breach, the affected parties now face the risk of identity theft, phishing attacks, and potential financial loss. Those concerned about their personal information should take proactive measures to protect themselves, such as exploring identity theft protection services. The recent series of cyberattacks serves as a stark reminder of the ever-present dangers in the digital landscape and the importance of remaining vigilant against such threats.
