CES 2025 kicked off with a bang as NVIDIA revealed its much-anticipated RTX 50-series GPUs. These new graphics cards promise a mix of power, speed, and efficiency, raising the bar for PC gaming enthusiasts. Starting at $549 for the RTX 5070 and climbing to a hefty $1,999 for the flagship RTX 5090, the line-up is set to shake up the gaming hardware market. The RTX 5090 and 5080 are set to hit shelves on January 30, with the RTX 5070 Ti and 5070 following in February.

Massive gains and bigger specs for high-end GPUs

The RTX 5090 leads the charge with a jaw-dropping 32GB of GDDR7 memory, 21,760 CUDA cores, and a memory bandwidth of 1,792GB/sec. It’s powered by NVIDIA’s Blackwell architecture and the latest DLSS 4 technology, allowing it to run games like Cyberpunk 2077 at an impressive 238fps with ray tracing enabled. However, all this power comes with a caveat: the RTX 5090 requires a 1,000-watt PSU, consuming up to 575 watts, a noticeable bump over its predecessor.

Not far behind, the RTX 5080 promises to double the speed of the RTX 4080. With 16GB of GDDR7 memory, 10,752 CUDA cores, and a 960GB/sec bandwidth, it’s primed for demanding games and high-resolution tasks. A recommended 850-watt PSU will keep it running smoothly, making it a tempting option for gamers who want cutting-edge performance without stretching their budgets to the 5090’s level.

Affordable Power: RTX 5070 Ti and 5070

For those looking for a balance of power and price, NVIDIA’s RTX 5070 Ti and RTX 5070 offer compelling options. The RTX 5070 Ti features 16GB of GDDR7 memory, 8,960 CUDA cores, and a bandwidth of 896GB/sec, while the RTX 5070 includes 12GB of GDDR7, 6,144 CUDA cores, and a 672GB/sec bandwidth. NVIDIA claims these GPUs deliver twice the performance of their RTX 40-series counterparts, with the RTX 5070 expected to rival RTX 4090 performance, thanks to DLSS 4 enhancements.

With power requirements of 300 watts for the 5070 Ti and 250 watts for the 5070, these cards are more energy-efficient compared to their high-end siblings. Starting at $549, the RTX 5070 offers an enticing entry point for gamers eager to tap into next-gen technology.

These innovations mark a significant leap forward, building on NVIDIA’s previous Ada Lovelace architecture. The RTX 50-series continues NVIDIA’s trend of blending advanced AI features with top-tier gaming hardware, setting the stage for a new era of gaming and creativity.

With these announcements, NVIDIA has once again positioned itself at the forefront of the gaming world, promising a future where speed, power, and innovation go hand in hand. Gaming enthusiasts can now start saving up to experience this next-gen leap.
