Sony Corporation has launched a smaller version of it’s flagship Xperia Z1, called the Xperia Z1 Compact. Unlike the Xperia Z1 which had a 5-inch screen, the Z1 Compact has a 4.3-inch screen, making it just a little bigger than the iPhone 5s and the iPhone 5c.
Other than the screen size, the features are the same as the Xperia Z1. It has 2GB RAM and 16 GB memory space and runs Android 4.2 Jelly Bean. It also supports a MicroSD card up to 64 GB.
The phone has a Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 quad-core 2.2 Ghz processor, 3000 mAh battery and supports 4G LTE. The device has a 2 megapixel front camera and an aluminium frame.
As far as the rear camera is concerned the phone has a 20.7 megapixel camera and like other Sony smartphones it is dust-resistant and waterproof.
The Xperia Z1 compact will come in a range of vibrant colours including lime and pink, and has a solid aluminium frame.
It looks like Sony has gone for a device with a smaller screen, but given it a colourful edge to put it in competition with the Apple iPhone 5 range and other devices in that category.
But don’t get too excited about the device yet. It’s not clear yet as to when the phone will launch in India and at the price at which it will be available.
