Is X down? Users experiencing connection issues with Elon Musk's social media platform

Users of microblogging platform X, formerly Twitter, reported having issues with server connection on Monday. Although most users claimed they were having issues connecting to the social media platform on their PCs, others claim to have experienced the outage on both, their mobile devices as well as desktops.

Some, have claimed that the service was accessible but in a very limited manner, with certain tweets disappearing from their timeline. Service was restored within hours of the first outage reports pouring in.

Downdetector.com, a website that tracks some of the most popular websites and platforms also reported a massive spike in the number of complaints it is receiving about the platform’s connectivity issues. However, it was in no position to publish just how widespread the outage actually is.

Initial reports indicate that the desktop users were worse off, compared to mobile, or app users.

It seems that users in Asia and the Asia-Pacific region were afflicted by the outage.

The root cause of the outage remains unclear. Users attempting to log in or navigate the platform were met with an error message stating, “Something went wrong. Try again.” Despite the widespread issues, there has been no official acknowledgement or explanation from the platform.

This is not the first time that the platform has faced an outage at this scale. In fact, ever since Musk took over bought a majority stake in the platform and took control, outages have become quite common. Even after taking over as CTO or Chief Technology Officer and relinquishing the post of CEO to Linda Yaccarino, Elon Musk hasn’t been able to crack down on the number of outages that the platform suffers every now and then.

In the last two years, there must have been dozens of instances where the platform suffered an outage. While sometimes it was because of issues with the maintenance of servers and technical facilities, others were caused because of faulty codes being published, which were rushed out in order to launch a new feature. To say that Musk’s leadership at X has been turbulent, would be an understatement.
