Blogs more dangerous than porn websites: report

This is one security report that might leave many confused. According to security Software Company Symantec (SYMC) the most unsafe websites which contain the maximum number of malware, viruses and trojans, are Blogs and Web Communication sites. Porn websites which are commonly blamed for infecting computers are ranked a lowly ninth on the list. The company has put out a list of top ten genre of websites that tend to be infected as per their URL. Screengrab from Symantec report.”]  [/caption] • Education and reference • Technology • Entertainment and music • Automotive • Health and medicine • Pornography According to the report, 20 percent of all blog and Web communication sites, 15 percent of hosting sites, and 10 percent of business websites are infected with malacious software. Strangely only 2 percent of pornographic sites have malware. The report says that 61% of malicious sites are actually regular Web sites that have been compromised and infected with malicious code. So why are porn websites so safe compared to the others? The report has this hypothesis. Its because pornographic website owners already make money from the internet and, as a result, have a vested interest in keeping their sites malware-free – it’s not good for repeat business.
