The WagonR has been completely revamped from the ground up and features better comfort and safety.

Maruti Suzuki launched the third generation of its popular entry-level hatchback, the Maruti Suzuki WagonR in India on 23 January. The WagonR has been completely revamped from the ground up and features better comfort and safety.

It now sits on the Heartect platform and has grown significantly in size. The new WagonR is 3,655 mm long, 1,620 mm wide and 1,675 mm tall. This makes it 56 mm longer, 130 mm wider and 25 mm shorter. The Wheelbase too has increased by 35 mm to 2,435 mm. Shoulder-room and knee-room have also seen gains. The hatch is also lighter than before, up to 65 kgs, the base LXi weighs a measly 805 kgs.

The new WagonR is offered with two engine options now. The K10B 1.0 litre motor is one of the few major components that carries on unchanged with its 68PS and 90Nm. Joining it in the line-up is the 1.2-litre petrol motor from the Swift and Baleno. This makes 83PS and 113Nm. Both units are mated to a five-speed manual or an AMT. The 1.0-litre unit has an ARI tested fuel consumption figure of 22.5 kmpl, while the 1.2 returns 21.5 kmpl.

There are seven variants on offer, here what you get in each of them, along with their prices. All prices are ex-showroom, Delhi.
