CES has evolved into a platform for automobile brands to showcase their creations. Harley-Davidson has just showcased its much anticipated LiveWire electric motorcycle at the show. The LiveWire debuted at the Milan Motorcycle Show in November 2018, but the company finally seems to be willing to divulge details on launch date and pricing. The American motorcycle manufacturer confirmed that it’s taking pre-orders immediately through its dedicated webpage. The deliveries of the same will start from August 2019 onwards. As far as some of the specs are concerned, Harley-Davidson has only mentioned that it’s capable of sprinting from 0-100 kilometres per hour in under 3.5 seconds, and because it is electrically powered, it requires no clutch and no gear shifting, making it a breeze for new riders. As far as mileage on a single charge goes, the company says the LiveWire is capable of 180 kilometres in regular city-driving conditions but not on highways. The motorcycle features a telematics system called Harley-Davidson Connect which feeds data about the bike’s battery state, service reminders and security alerts to the owner via the connected app. In fact, the company claims that the LiveWire will be the first “North American mass-market cellular-connected electric motorcycle.”

But wait! What’s the point of a Harley Davidson without powerful rumble, right? The company claims that the LiveWire produces “a new signature Harley-Davidson sound as it accelerates.” The company also showcased two electric prototypes of the motorcycle at Las Vegas. These might be launched a few years later.
