2019 Geneva Motor Show: Tata H2X SUV showcases, to take on Maruti Suzuki Ignis

The 2019 Geneva Motor Show has started with multiple automobile manufacturers unveiling their upcoming offerings in the concept and production form. Tata Motors has showcased the Buzzard SUV which is a 7-seater version of the Harrier, Altroz hatchback that takes on the likes of the Maruti Suzuki Baleno and the Hyundai Elite i20 and also the H2X a sub-compact SUV that will be positioned below the Nexom to compete with the Maruti Suzuki Ignis and the Mahindra KUV100.

While the details on the powertrains have not been revealed yet, Tata Motors has confirmed that the H2X will have a length of 3.85m. Based on the new ALFA Architecture, the Tata H2X SUV will be launched in production form in 2020. From the images, it can be seen that the H2X SUV shares the Impact 2.0 design language with the more premium Harrier. This can be seen with the angled DRLs and a sleeker upper grille. The other bits of the design include the signature slingshot line that runs from the doors to the rear profile of the H2X SUV. The taillight design is also distinct and not like any other that we have seen on the Tata SUVs. Additionally, one can also see the diamond-shaped DLO which is basically a characteristic line that flows from the A Pillars into the D pillars. What also stands out in the overall design is the flared wheel arches and the Y-shaped tail lights and a compact rear windscreen. The concept features twin 10.2-inch screen with the infotainment being a touchscreen unit. The production-spec model might not come with the same design and we believe Tata Motors will tone it down considerably. Tata Motors has also gone for turquoise for the seat belt and also for the door release and the steering wraparound. The door trims also feature removable BT speakers. Needless to say, the infotainment will come with Apple Car Play and Google Android Auto connectivity options. “It’s a proud and humble moment for us today, as we stand here not only showcasing to all what we have in store in the coming year, but also being able to honour the commitments we made last year at this very time. We are excited to showcase to you the derivatives of our new future protected architectures the ALTROZ, the ALTROZ EV, the BUZZARD* Geneva EEdition, the BUZZARD SPORT, Geneva Edition and the show stopper of the event, the H2X Concept. All these global products are based on the two new architecture strategy. We are confident that they will be game changers in their own spheres and will successfully reiterate our commitment to offer aspirational products with world-class design and technology.” commented,  Guenter Butschek, CEO & MD Tata Motors Ltd
