Asus launches dual-screen UltraBook, 2 notebooks, tablet in India

Personal computer maker Asus India said that it expects to garner 7 percent market share of the country’s laptop and netbook market.

Asus launches dual-screen UltraBook, 2 notebooks, tablet in India

Personal computer maker Asus India launched 4 new devices in India and said it expects to garner 7 percent market share of the country’s laptop and netbook market by the end of this year. “Size of India laptop and netbook market is around 5 million units per annum. We expect to have 7 percent of the market share by end of this year,” Asus’ Managing Director for System Business Group Alex Huang said. According to IBN-Live, the four devices launched were two notebooks; The Asus VivoBook F202E, and Asus VivoBook S400, a dockable tablet called the Asus VivoTab RT, and the Asus Taichi dual screen convertible ultrabook/tablet that can display two screens simultaneously. Key features are as follows: The Asus Taichi: This has a full HD screen with a backlit keyboard. With the lid closed, Taichi functions as a touch-screen tablet. The 13.3-inch screen is dual LED-backlit. The device includes an Intel Core i7 processor, a 5 megapixel camera, a Stylus Pen, 4 GB RAM, and a 256GB flash storage space. The Asus Taichi will be available in India at Rs 139,999 The Asus VivoBook F202E: This has an 11.6-inch screen with a capacitive touch panel, a  3rd Generation Intel Core i3 processor and USB 3.0. This will cost Rs 39,999 The Asus VivoBook S400:  The S400 has a 14 inch LED Backlit HD screen, and a capacitive touch panel with multi touch function. It also includes a 3rd Generation Intel Core i7 that comes with 4GB RAM and 500 GB HDD. This will cost Rs 59,999. Asus Vivo Tab RT: This device has a mobile dock with a QWERTY keyboard, track pad, USB port. It has a 10.1-inch capacitive multi-touch display and Nvidia Tegra3 processor plus 2GB RAM. This will cost. Rs 61,999. Speaking further on the company’s ambitions of capturing 7 percent of the tablet market Alex Huang said, the company was continuously expanding its product portfolio for Indian consumers and increasing reach with the expansion of its retail network. We are going to launch 10 more SKU (Stock Keeping Unit) tablets built on Windows 8 to offer more choice to consumers,” Huang said. The most recent of these was the Google Nexus 7 tablet that went on sale in India from today for a price of Rs 19,999. The company has recently launched a new Nexus tablet built on Google’s Android Platform. No word on when that will come to India as yet! With inputs from PTI
