Apple appears ready to roll out another addition to its wireless earphone lineup, just months after updating the AirPods. According to reports from Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, the Powerbeats Pro 2 could be announced as early as February 11. The earphones, which have been in the rumour mill for a while, seem set for an imminent launch.

A boost in audio and noise cancellation

Apple’s next-gen Powerbeats Pro 2 is rumoured to pack the powerful H2 chip found in the AirPods Pro 2. This upgrade is expected to significantly enhance both active noise cancellation and overall audio quality. The original Powerbeats Pro, released in 2019, featured the H1 chip, so this move would align with Apple’s trend of improving chip technology in its wearables.

The improved chip is likely to appeal to fitness enthusiasts who prioritise a balance of high sound quality and environmental awareness during workouts. Combined with heart rate tracking, this makes the Powerbeats Pro 2 a strong contender in the fitness-tech space.

Refined design and fit

Design leaks suggest that the Powerbeats Pro 2 will sport a slimmer, more streamlined look with updated ear hooks. This aligns with a previous Apple teaser showing baseball player Shohei Ohtani wearing a similar model. The earphones appear designed to provide a snug yet comfortable fit, suitable for active users.

Beats has always maintained a distinct style compared to Apple’s AirPods to avoid direct competition between the two brands. The Powerbeats Pro series focuses on a sportier, more durable build, aimed at users with a more fitness-oriented lifestyle.

Android compatibility and battery life

Unlike Apple’s AirPods, Beats products have long been optimised for use with both iOS and Android devices. This year’s model is expected to continue that trend, with improved compatibility for Android users, including support for the Find My Device feature. The Powerbeats Pro 2 is also rumoured to deliver better battery life, which would be a welcome upgrade for those who rely on long listening sessions.

With a launch possibly just days away, the Powerbeats Pro 2 could be a significant step forward for Apple’s Beats brand, blending fitness-focused features with a sleek new design and enhanced performance.
