Apple, today announced that the new Mac operating software (OS), Mountain Lion would be available for $19.99. So what does this new OS have to offer to consumers? Here’s a quick look some features: • Social media integration: On the lines of its OS for mobile devices, the new MacBook OS also promises better integration with social networking sites like Facebook Inc, Twitter, Flickr and other services. Facebook notifications or Twitter notifications will now be part of the MacBook experience which is a pretty darned cool feature. • Goodbye iChat, welcome the new Messages centre: The new Messages app, is similar to Apple’s iMessage which is available on iPhones, iPod Touch and iPad. Works the same as iMessage. Instant messaging is now part of the MacBook as well. [caption id=“attachment_391086” align=“alignleft” width=“380”] Mountain Lion. It also comes with new apps. • The Game Centre: According to CNet this is still pretty basic. Dictation sends your voice to be translated at Apple servers, so you can’t use it while offline. Gatekeeper keeps you from downloading unsafe programs, but it seems mostly unnecessary. Overall, it looks like Apple has given its OS for MacBook a significant upgrade and brought it quite close to the mobile experience.
