The new iPad is out and it's sharper than an HD TV

Apple’s big event has begun in San Francisco. Tim Cook, CEO has unvieled the new Apple Television, Siri in Japanese and of course the new iPad. Tech website AllThingsD has reported that the new iPad does have retina display. According to Apple’s marketing chief Phil Schiller, the new iPad has a screen resolution of  2048 by 1536 pixels, which is one million more than an HD Television. It seems that Apple has indeed outdone itself and Samsung and other tablet makers will have a hard time catching up to the new iPad. Other key features that are being reported show that the rumour mills have got most of the information right. Yes it does have a more powerful processor, the A5X chip with quad-core needed for it’s higher level of graphics. The camera has been boosted to 5 megapixels. Arstechnica’s Jacqui Cheng reports that the new iPad comes with 1o hours of battery life.  It also comes with voice dictation. And yes the new iPad will have 4G. WSJ had it right all along. (scroll down to see earlier reports). The price of the new iPad is the same. It starts $499 for 16GB, $599  for 32GB and $699 for 64 GB versions. 4G models will cost an extra $130. Most importantly we still don’t know the name of the new iPad. For now it seems to be  just ’the new iPad.’ What happened to iPad 3 or iPad HD? iPad 2 16GB is now available at reduced prices, $399. Apple is holding its big event today in San Francisco, at the Yerba Buena Center for the Arts. The event begins at 10 am Pacific Time or around 11.30 pm in India. As the event unfolds we will give you the latest updates of the features of iPad 3 or iPad HD . For now, here’s a bunch of information that we know is pretty certain, but knowing Apple and their surprising ways, could turn out to be wrong. • The new iPad will have a resolution of 2048 x 1536 or Retina Display. Which is why the rumour mills are stating that Apple might name the product iPad HD and not iPad 3. • Will iPad 3 be thinner? TheNextWeb doesn’t think so, since  there are reports that iPad 3 or HD will come with a larger battery. Reports from the Wall Street Journal had stated that Verizon Communications Inc and AT&T Inc will sell the new iPad version with the companies’ 4G network. The paper was citing people familiar with the matter. • iPad will come with a more powerful, quad-core A6 processor and a 8 mega-pixel camera on the back with a five-inch mega-pixel one on the front.  A quad-core A6 processor will out-power the Samsung Galaxy tab which has a dual-core processor. For the moment tech bloggers and columnists are waiting in San Franciso, ready to tweet out the latest pictures of the new iPad.
