Apple enthusiasts, mark your calendars! The Cupertino-based tech giant has just announced a special virtual event scheduled for May 7, giving us a sneak peek at what’s to come before the much-anticipated Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC).

Apple, in all likelihood, is going to launch the new series of iPads, along with a few supported accessories.

Set to kick off at 7:00 AM PT or 7:30 PM IST, the event will be live-streamed on Apple’s website and the Apple TV app. While Apple is tight-lipped about the specifics, a teaser image featuring an Apple Pencil amidst a vibrant Apple logo suggests a focus on the iPad lineup.

Speculation has been rife about updates to the iPad Pro and iPad Air, with rumours pointing to the inclusion of M3 and M2 chips, respectively. The iPad Pro may also see the introduction of OLED displays, while a larger 12.9-inch iPad Air could join the roster.

Reports also hint at the unveiling of a new Magic Keyboard tailored for the new iPad Pro, alongside a revamped Apple Pencil, potentially integrating features like Find My and interchangeable tips for diverse writing experiences.

Unlike traditional in-person events, Apple’s May 7 gathering will be entirely virtual, mirroring last October’s “Scary fast” event format. Attendees can expect to tune in online, as no invitations to physical venues have been extended.

Excitement is brewing around the speculated enhancements to the Apple Pencil, including the possibility of a “Squeeze” gesture feature. Moreover, whispers of an expanded iPad Pro lineup with OLED displays and thinner designs, as well as a surprising inclusion of a 12.9-inch iPad Air with a mini-LED display, have piqued interest among tech enthusiasts.

Additionally, buzz surrounds the anticipated release of an updated Magic Keyboard, promising a more robust frame crafted from aluminium and aiming to enhance the iPad Pro’s functionality, potentially blurring the lines between tablet and laptop.

With over two years since the last iPad Air refresh and nearly 18 months since the debut of M2-powered iPad Pros, anticipation is running high for Apple’s latest innovations.
