After much anticipation, Apple has officially revealed the winners of its 2024 App Store Awards. The list features 17 apps and games that have been recognised as the best across various categories, including the iPhone, iPad, Mac, Apple Watch, Apple TV, and Apple Vision Pro. Notably, six apps have also earned special recognition for their cultural impact, further cementing their place in the spotlight.

The winners were chosen from a list of 45 finalists that Apple previously announced, and they each receive a shiny, bright blue App of the Year trophy. The trophy is not just a shiny piece of decor—it’s a hefty award, roughly the size of an oversized Mac Mini, making it a true symbol of recognition in the app world.

Notable Winners Across Categories

Among the winners, some apps stand out for their innovation and user-friendly features. For instance, Kino, the video app that has been dubbed ‘Halide for video’, has earned its spot as one of the top apps of 2024.

Designed with both beginners and enthusiasts in mind, Kino allows users to create cinematic videos with ease. It offers a variety of instant grades for colour, tone, and motion, or users can opt for manual settings, including ProRes options, to refine their footage to perfection.

AI Takes the Spotlight in Music and Photography

As expected, artificial intelligence (AI) continues to play a significant role in this year’s winners. Moises, the iPad App of the Year, makes excellent use of AI to assist musicians and producers. It can separate instruments and vocals on a track, helping to fine-tune recordings. The app can even automatically add a metronome or change the key of a song, making it a handy tool for creators.

On the photography front, Adobe Lightroom takes home the title of Mac App of the Year. With its array of AI features, the app provides powerful tools for photographers to enhance their images effortlessly. Thanks to its seamless performance on M-series Macs, Lightroom continues to be a favourite for those looking to elevate their photography skills.

The complete list of winners

While these apps represent some of the highlights, Apple’s full list of winners includes a range of apps designed for various purposes—from fitness and productivity to creativity and entertainment.
