Anna Hazare, Ra.One most discussed topics on Facebook India this year

Facebook has compiled data from users status updates and determined that the most popular Indian topic was Anna and the Jan Lokpal bill.

Anna Hazare, Ra.One most discussed topics on Facebook India this year

Facebook has compiled the most discussed topics of 2011 and in India, Anna Hazare and the Jan Lokpal bill have come out on top. In a post accompanying the release of the data Facebook said, “Memology takes the pulse of this global community by comparing this year’s status updates to last year’s, unearthing the most popular topics and cultural trends — or memes — emerging on Facebook.” [caption id=“attachment_149784” align=“alignleft” width=“380” caption=“The Gandhian was the most discussed topic on Facebook in 2011 in India. PTI”] ![](https://images.firstpost.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/12/anna-380-pti.jpg "anna-380-pti") [/caption] Shahrukh Khan’s superhero avatar Ra.One  and the song Chammak Challo come in second in India’s list, while the death of Osama Bin Laden was the third most discussed topic by Indians on Facebook. The other topics included ghazal singer Jagjit Singh who passed away in October, the death of Steve Jobs, cricketer Yuvraj Singh and the movie Rockstar. Mahendra Singh Dhoni, The Congress party and the earthquakes in Manipur and Gujarat complete the top ten. Meanwhile the most discussed topic in the world is the death of Osama Bin Laden. The death of Steve Jobs is the fifth most discussed topic, Charlie Sheen comes in at number 3, while the start of military operations in Libya is at number 9.  You can see all the trends by clicking on this tab on the Facebook page.
