The Wall Street Journal has reported
that Apple is in talks with music producers in a bid to create an online radio streaming service like Pandora. Pandora, Spotify and other online music services allow users to listen to their favourite songs and also makes recommendations based on their song choices. And the Journal report indicates that the radio service would allow the service to work on all Apple devices including the iPhone, iPads and Mac computers. However it will not work on smartphones and tablets that use Google’s Android operating system. Big surprise there. The report also quoted sources as saying that the company is looking to hammer out deals which would allow users to skip songs and eliminate other common restrictions on Internet radio services. According to Apple Insider
, if such a feature were to be implemented, the alleged service would have a leg up on rivals that charge users a subscription fee in return for unlimited skips. [caption id=“attachment_447527” align=“alignleft” width=“380”]

The company instead turned its attention to the Genius recommendation system, which offers song suggestions based on customer purchases. The move is also likely to be a huge worry to music streaming services, as it will only tighten Apple’s already iron grip on the online and digital music industry.
