Acer today unveiled the Acer Iconia W3, the world’s first 8.1-inch tablet running Windows 8. The tablet comes with With Microsoft Office Home & Student 2013 pre-installed for no additional cost.
The Acer Iconia W3 was introduced at a press event at Computex along with including the new Acer Aspire S7 and S3 Ultrabooks as well as the Liquid S1 phablet.
“With the Iconia W3, Acer is giving those who create, read, work and play in the Windows environment a device they can hold in one hand that does it all,” said Michael Birkin, Acer Chief Marketing Officer.
The Iconia W3’s weighs 540 grams and is 11.35 mm thin. The new tablet is powered by an Intel Atom Z2760 processor clocked at 1.8 GHz. The Acer Iconia W3 provides up to 8 hours of battery life according to the company.
It has an 8.1-inch LED-backlit display with 1280 x 800 resolution. Both the front and rear cameras are 2 megapixel. It has a micro-HDMI port for connecting to a TV or external display and supports Wifi connectivity.
The tablet is available with either 32GB or 64GB of internal storage, and users can add an additional 32GB via microSD.
The Iconia W3 with be available starting Q2, 2013.
