Acer launches 6-inch Liquid S2, the first 4K-recording smartphone

Acer has launched a new smartphone with a 6-inch screen called the Liquid S2. Before you think this is another phone with a giant screen, hold on, the phone is also the first 4K recording smartphone.

Acer launches 6-inch Liquid S2, the first 4K-recording smartphone

Acer has launched a new smartphone with a 6-inch screen called the Liquid S2. Before you think this is another phone with a giant screen, hold on. Acer says it is the world’s first 4K recording smartphone. (4K refers to the horizontal resolution which are all to the order of 4,000 pixels and is usually seen in digital television and cinematography.) The smartphone will be formally unveiled at IFA 2013 and comes with a full HD 6-inch screen with IPS technology at 368 pixels per inch. This is 4G LTE compatible and also supports the the new Wi-Fi 802.11 ac standard (which promises faster downloads on WiFi.) The smartphone runs Android 4.2.2. Product Image by Acer[/caption] It has Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 800 2.2GHz processor with 2 GB RAM. The total storage space on the phone is 16 GB and the expandable memory is a whopping 128 GB. It has a 3300 mAh battery. It has a 13 megapixel rear camera with LED flash and 2 megapixel front camera. Other camera related features include: • Video Recording: 4K Ultra HD, fast full HD 1080p 60FPS, 4 x slow motion • Full Panorama Pictures: Up to 27-megapixels in a single picture • Quick First Shot: Take picture right from unlock the screen with automatic center-focus by tapping any location on the screen It is 8.99 mm thin and has two stereo speakers powered with Dolby Digital Plus. The Liquid S2 also uses curved Gorilla Glass 3.0 which makes it resistant to scratches. The phone is available in red and black. The Liquid S2 version will be available at the end of October and the price will be revealed later. Front camera 2 MP, f2.2, 24 mm lens, 88° wide angle, BSI sensor, 1080p video • Processor: Quad-core 2.2 GHz • Storage / memory: 16 GB / 2 GB • Battery: 3300 mAh, non-replaceable Li-polymer battery • Dimensions: 166 x 86 x 8.99 mm, • Network: 4G: 800/1800/2600 3G: 900/2100 2G: 850/900/1800/1900 • Connectivity: Wi-Fi 802.11ac/a/b/g/n, Bluetooth® 4.0, GPS+GLONASS, NFC • Sensors: Light sensor, accelerometer, proximity sensor, digital compass, gyro • Operating system: Android 4.2.2
