Modi govt bets on satellite imaging to boost crop production

Prime Minister Narendra Modi wants to promote a "per drop, more crop" approach to farming to make better use of scarce water, and aims to have a new satellite crop monitoring system working in time for the peak of this year's monsoon in July.

Govt may adopt satellite imaging for transmission projects

The government, which has set a target of building 1,07,440 circuit kilometres of transmission lines by 2016-17, said that right of way and forest clearances are two major factors which hinder the execution of transmission projects.
