The athlete committee of the World Anti-Doping Agency is calling for Russia to be completely banned from the Olympics after the country “made a mockery not only those who play by the rules, but those who create and safeguard them.”
WADA will consider its next step in the long-running saga at a January meeting of its compliance committee, but athletes want Russia found in non-compliance.
Less than a week before the opening of the Olympics, IOC leaders will meet in Rio de Janeiro this weekend to review the final preparations for the games and deal with the fallout from the doping scandal that has led to the exclusion of more than 100 Russian athletes.
