Author Harper Lee in dispute with US museum over book's titleThe 87-year-old author has filed an application seeking a trademark for the book's title when it is displayed on clothing and other merchandise. The move is being challenged by the Monroe County Heritage Museum, which says it sells T-shirts and souvenirs with the words To Kill a Mockingbird to help fund its operations.

Images: The heartrending pictures from Syria that won the PulitzerRodrigo Abd, Manu Brabo, Narciso Contreras, Khalil Hamra and Muhammed Muheisen from the Associated Press were awarded the Pulitzer prize in Breaking News journalism "for their compelling coverage of the civil war in Syria, producing memorable images under extreme hazard". The $10,000 prize is awarded for "a distinguished example of breaking news photography in black and white or color, which may consist of a photograph or photographs". The heartrending images present a detailed story of a country at war and the terrible losses suffered by everyday people. Be warned however, that some of them are graphic in nature.

Pulitzer Prize-winning editor Eugene Patterson dies at at 89Patterson was editor of the Atlanta Constitution from 1960 to 1968, winning a Pulitzer Prize in 1967 for editorial writing and doing a signed column every day for eight years. He wrote about the civil rights movement at a time when many Southern newspapers wouldn't aggressively cover it.
