Govt launches Jal Shakti Abhiyan for water conservation; campaign to emphasise on 256 districts, mobilise scientists and IITs
Union Jal Shakti Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat on Monday launched a conservation campaign, with an emphasis on 1592 stressed blocks in 256 districts.
Women and Child Development minister Maneka Gandhi on Tuesday said that after the "resounding" success of the "Beti Bachao Beti Padhao" scheme, the ministry is now targeting the problem of malnutrition.
"All ministries have prepared the action plans for Swachh Bharat Mission for the current financial year 2017-18 and for 2018-19. The respective ministries have committed Rs 5,300 crore budget for sanitation this year,"
The 56-year-old Iyer, a 1981 batch IAS officer hailing from Tamil Nadu had taken voluntary retirement in 2009.
