Day 25 of Meghalaya mine mishap: No headway in reducing water level in shaft as pumps develop technical glitches
The high-powered pumps of Kirloskar Brothers Ltd installed at the Meghalaya mine on Saturday to pump out water from the main shaft, where the miners are trapped since 13 December, developed glitches and could not function the whole day.

The Navy and NDRF divers waited all day to resume rescue work but could not since the water level remained unchanged in the shaft in Meghalaya's East Jaintia Hills district.
The Coal India Limited official also pointed out the possibility of water entering the mine from other shafts nearby which have been abandoned.
