Banks have disbursed Rs 6,420 crore interest free loans to 443 sugar mills for clearing the payment to sugarcane farmers, Parliament was informed today.
India's sugar production rose by 47 percent to 42.25 lakh tonnes till December 15 of this marketing year, which started in October this year, leading to a fall in ex-factory prices of the sweetener.
Currently, India imports more than $30 billion of electronic goods, including solar panels, annually making it the fourth largest item in the import basket, contributing to 23 per cent of its trade deficit.<br />
