Telecom operator Bharti Airtel has shelved plans to sell controlling stake in its mobile tower arm Bharti Infratel but has decided to monetise 21.63% equity in the company.
Trai notes that power consumption is the biggest contributor to carbon emissions by telecom service providers.
The Kerala High Court has permitted erecting of mobile towers in Kasaragod, Kozhikode and Thiruvananthapuram, over which locals were up in arms on health grounds, holding that the infrastructure provider had the necessary permits and licenses
"The said merger has become effective i.e. June 11, 2013," it added
