Authorities said 10 people in Macao have been sickened by the pneumonia-like illness, among them a hotel employee at Galaxy Casino, one of the city’s busiest gambling establishments.

Deaths from China’s new flu-like virus rose to 17 on Wednesday, with more than 540 cases confirmed, leading the city at the centre of the outbreak to close transportation networks and urge citizens not to leave as fears rose of the contagion spreading.
As of January 20, almost 300 confirmed cases of this infection along with 6 deaths have been reported.
The illness has already affected 59 people in Wuhan, China - a majority of them reportedly worked at the Huanan seafood market.
