Hindustani Awam Morcha (Secular), a constituent of BJP-led NDA, on Sunday announced its list of candidates for seven Assembly seats which included names of four women.
The BJP, which so far played second fiddle in Bihar politics, had assumed a new big brother role – the party will contest 160 seats, a number the BJP leaders had been quoting for long. Ram Vilas Paswan of LJP will contest on 40 seats, Upendra kushwaha’s LJSP will contest on 23 and Jitan Ram Manjhi’s HAM will fight on 20 seats (another few HAM leaders will get to fight on BJP symbol).
After getting more seats than offered earlier, former Bihar chief minister Jitan Ram Manjhi on Monday said he was "fully satisfied" with the seat-sharing arrangement among NDA allies for contesting the state assembly polls.
Just a day after the dates for the Bihar polls were announced, opinion polls have begun predicting the results of the highly charged state polls.
BJP and its Bihar allies will meet on 31 August to thrash out a deal over seat-sharing in the state assembly polls.
