Astronaut-elects for ISRO's Gaganyaan mission 'doing well' in training in Russia; may return in early 2021
So far, the astronaut-elects have completed training on emergency descent and landing in different terrain and seasons.
The training involves aircraft development, biomedical training, physical exercises, and protocol for an emergency landing.
While four astronauts will undergo training, only three astronauts will be sent to space during the mission.
There's still plenty that ISRO needs to do before mission Gaganyaan and its astronauts take wing.
Training begins at the Gagarin Cosmonaut Training Center next year, a senior Russian space official said.
The space station will be a 20-tonne modular abode, that can be built and used independently in different systems.
Gaganyaan will take three astronauts to space, scheduled for December 2021 or January 2022
