European football weekend: Manchester City at Anfield, Le Classique in Ligue 1 and Mesut Ozil in Istanbul derby
What to look forward to in European football this weekend from Premier League, LaLiga, Bundesliga, Serie A and Turkey.
Ozil was one of the stars of Germany's 2014 World Cup-winning side and won three FA Cups for Arsenal.
The last time Özil featured in a matchday squad for Arsenal was on 25 June against Southampton. It's doubtful whether he's even been to the Emirates Stadium very much since then
Ozil said goodbye to his Arsenal teammates a week ago and his move to Turkey has now been wrapped up.
Arsene Wenger comes out in support of Mesut Ozil's Fenerbahce move, hails Arsenal outcast as 'genius'
The former Arsenal boss signed the German playmaker in 2013 but the relationship has turned sour under current manager Mikel Arteta.
Ozil's last match for Arsenal was in March, a week before football was suspended at the outbreak of the coronavirus, so he might not be match-sharp to start immediately for Fenerbahce.
Despite reportedly being the highest earner at the club, Ozil has not featured since a 1-0 win over West Ham on 7 March.
Ozil moved to Arsenal from Real Madrid in 2013 and is the highest paid player in the Premier League club's history, but he has not played all season and does not appear to be in coach Mikel Arteta's plans.
