SC asks AIIMS to review Asaram's medical reports

New Delhi, Oct 15 (IANS) The Supreme Court Wednesday asked the AIIMS to set up a medical board to review the medical papers and reports of spiritual guru Asaram Bapu who is suffering from neurological aliment trigeminal neuralgia and whether he required surgery. A bench of Justice T.S.Thakur, Justice Adarsh Kumar Goel and Justice R. Banumathi also said that if medical board could go ahead to conduct a clinical examination of Asaram, if it deemed it necessary.

Cyclone-hit Visakhapatnam limps back to normalcy

Water in artificial lake in Tughlakabad area contaminated

New Delhi, Oct 15 (IANS) The environment ministry Wednesday told Delhi High Court that the artificial lake at the Tughlakabad Ridge area is contaminated and is posing threat to the birds and animals in the forest that depend on it. It blamed the industrial activity and discharge from unsewered colonies in Tughlakabad here for the high level of contamination in the artificial lake.

A statement said the first ever "India Rivers Week, 2014" will be observed as a national event in New Delhi Nov 24-27. Seven injured in Jammu school van accident

Jammu, Oct 15 (IANS) Five children and two others sustained injuries Wednesday when a school van they were travelling in fell into a gorge in Jammu and Kashmir, police said. The accident took place in the afternoon in Ramban district. A senior police officer told IANS here: "Five students of a primary school and two teachers were injured when a school van carrying them went out of the driver's control and fell into a gorge at Khari (Banihal) in Ramban district." "The injured were shifted to sub-district hospital in Banihal town and doctors described the condition of some of the injured as critical."
