HC Gupta's conviction in coal scam case is a travesty of justice, has grim portents for administrative system
A Delhi court on Wednesday granted bail to former coal secretary HC Gupta shortly after sentencing him to three years in prison for criminal conspiracy and misconduct in the coal block allocation scam.
He broke into tears on Tuesday and told the court he wants to withdraw his bail application, citing lack of financial resources to sustain legal expenses.
A special court on Wednesday framed charges against former Coal Secretary HC Gupta and five others in a coal scam case pertaining to alleged irregularities in allocation of a coal block in Madhya Pradesh to an accused firm.
CBI on Friday told a special court that former Coal Secretary H C Gupta had allegedly concealed facts from the then Prime Minister Manmohan Singh that
