AIIMS entrance test dress code: Ban on hijab is unconstitutional, violates right to freedom of religion
The Kerala High Court’s decision on the hijab ban in AIIMS entrance test is a welcome interpretation of the right to freedom of religion in India.
No country is justified in banning the symbols of ‘choice’ in relation with hijab or burqa or categorically declaring it as compulsory attire in the name of social/political/religious morality and modesty
French court suspends burkini ban, says individual liberty can be restricted if it's a 'proven risk'
France's highest administrative court on Friday suspended a ban on the Islamic burkini swimsuit brought by a French Riviera town after it was challenged by rights groups.
It said the burkini was liable to offend the "religious convictions or (religious) non-convictions of other users of the beach,” and “be felt as a defiance or a provocation exacerbating tensions felt by” the community.
The burkini is not a political statement or a means to make the wearer feel enslaved or the viewer offended.
