The first senior tournament (both men and women) was scheduled to be held from 27 August to 3 September, while the second event was supposed to be staged from 4 to 11 September and would have marked the resumption of the domestic season after a gap of more than one-and-a-half years.
"Indian Badminton has seen great success with two successive medals coming from Olympics and with this latest news of the World Championships is the right stimulant for the game," BAI general secretary Ajay Singhania said.
The Badminton Association of India (BAI) nominated HS Prannoy, Pranav Jerry Chopra and Sameer Verma for the Arjuna honour.
According to the guidelines of the BAI, players above the age of 18, coaches, technical officials, organising team and staff need to be fully vaccinated and are required to carry their certificates with valid barcodes.
Sarma, who is also the Vice President of Badminton Asia, got 236 votes as 31 members contested for 20 places in the Council at the virtual AGM and election of the sport's global governing body.
