Terror threat in Jammu and Kashmir: Day after MHA advisory, govt officials, medical staff told not to take leaves; Amarnath yatris, students leave Valley in a rush
The confusion erupted on Friday shortly after Home Ministry issued an advisory asking tourists to leave Valley. The airfares for flights from Srinagar to Delhi this weekend shot up to abnormally high levels after this. Government officials, medical staffs ordered to not take leave without prior permission.
Kashmir remained cut off from the rest of the country for the second day on Saturday due to heavy snowfall in many areas over the past four days as the mercury fell below freezing point at most places with Gulmarg recording the coldest temperature in the state.
The Amarnath Yatra was called off yet again on Wednesday due to fresh unrest reported from Anantnag and a fresh batch of pilgrims was allowed to leave from Bhagwati Nagar Yatra base camp.
More than 24 people were injured Friday when clashes broke out between two groups in Kashmir's Baltal base camp of Amarnath Yatra, police said.
