World T20 Semis as it happened: WI through to final

Press Ctrl+R for latest updates WICKET! Australia 131 all out after 16.4 overs Mitchell Starc b Rampaul 2 (5b, 0x4, 0x6) Bowled him! Mitchell Starc gets a taste of his own medicine and West Indies are through to the finals of the World T20 with a 74-run win over Australia. Excellent all-round cricket. WICKET! Australia 121-9 after 15.1 overs Brad Hogg st Ramdin b Narine 7 (7b, 0x4, 0x6) Hogg is Stumped by inches. For a moment it seemed he had his toe back in the crease after he missed his shot, but Ramdin is quicker than expected. WICKET! Australia 111-8 after 13.3 overs Pat Cummins c Charles b Pollard 13 (15b, 1x4, 0x6) Two in two for Pollard then. Pat Cummins gets taken at extra-cover. Windies are certainly through to the final now. We’ll eat our hats if otherwise. OK, we’ll eat our keyboards. WICKET! Australia 111-7 after 13.2 overs George Bailey c Russell b Pollard 63 (29b, 6x4, 4x6) Bailey’s done brilliantly but he has to go for the big shot. He’s taken on the leg side– which is the longest boundary at the park. Australia 64-6 after 10 overs Bailey 28, Cummins 3 Surprise! This is not a wicket update. Bailey has brought a smile to Aussie faces with a huge six over mid-wicket. Lone battle for him now. WICKET! Australia 43-6 after 7.2 overs Mathew Wade c Badree b Narine 1 (5b, 0x4, 0x6) Another one! Narine strikes. Wade tries to sweep it and just manages a top edge which goes straight to short fine-leg. WICKET! Australia 42-5 after 6.3 overs David Hussey c & b Rampaul 0 (2b, 0x4, 0x6) Rampaul hurls in a short ball and Hussey’s defence is weak. The top edge is looped in the air and Rampaul takes. Easy-peasy-lemon-squeezy now… WICKET! Australia 42-4 after 6.1 overs Cameron White c Ramdin b Rampaul 5 (6b, 0x4, 0x6) Rampaul gets his first wicket of the match and the Aussies are tumbling. White goes to flick one past fine-leg and gets a faint edge. Soft dismissal, that one. WICKET! Australia 29-3 after 4.3 overs Shane Watson b Badree 7 (9b, 1x4, 0x6) Huge wicket, this one. Badree’s ball stays low, Watson pulls and misses his shot and that’s that. Windies surely on their way to a big win now? WICKET! Australia 22-2 after 3.1 overs Mike Hussey c&b Samuels 18 (12b, 3x4, 0x6) Hussey has swatted three boundaries since coming on. He is in quite a hurry and rightfully so… Australia are not chasing a small total. But he tries to take on Samuels, gets a top edge and the bowler’s happy to take. [caption id=“attachment_481382” align=“alignleft” width=“380”] ![](https://images.firstpost.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/10/Watson-ap-new.jpg "Watson-ap-new") AP[/caption] WICKET! Australia 2-1 after 1 over David Warner b Badree 1 (3b, 0x4, 0x6) Uh-oh, that’s not a good start. Badree’s delivery just brushes Warner’s off-stump. It first didn’t seem clear but the third umpire checks and Warner walks. AUSTRALIA COME OUT TO BAT WICKET! West Indies 205-4 after 20 overs Kieron Pollard c Warner b Doherty 38 (15b, 3x4, 3x6) 6-1-6-6-6-wicket. That’s how the last over went. Pollard, scoring three of those sixes after Gayle gave him strike (he ended on a majestic 75*). This total is not only hard to get, it’s probably impossible to chase. But if there’s one team who can do it, it’s Australia. West Indies 178-3 after 19 overs Gayle 68, Pollard 18 Gayle gets a six off the first ball and then hands over the strike to Pollard who flicks one away for four before getting the same result through fine-leg. West Indies 163-3 after 18 overs Gayle 61, Pollard 10 Gayle gets a thick edge first and then pulls one towards mid-wicket and both go for four runs. Pollard on the other end is chilling. WICKET! West Indies 140-3 after 15.5 overs Dwayne Bravo c Bailey b Cummins 37 (31b, 1x4, 3x6) Bravo sends a high six straight down the ground before whipping one to mid-off. Good catch from Bailey, but Bravo’s job is done. West Indies 132-2 after 15 overs Gayle 50, Bravo 30 Great batting from these two. Bravo sends a flat six over mid-wicket before Gayle sends one 102 metres off his bat for six. There’s a Gayle four squeezed between the two. Gayle gets to 50 with another four and does a semi-Gangnam style celebration. West Indies 104-2 after 13 overs Gayle 33, Bravo 21 Two overs without a boundary with Gayle and Bravo at the crease? It does happen but both batsmen end that run there with a six from Bravo and four from Gayle. Gayle is adjusting himself with patience and it looks like he wants to stick around till the end. West Indies 83-2 after 11 overs Gayle 28, Bravo 10 Doherty stares at Gayle… Gayle stares back and then swats a six over his head. Apart from that, the last two overs have been pretty quiet. But the Windies have wickets in hand and can take a risk or two. West Indies 64-2 after 9 overs Gayle 18, Bravo 5 Bravo’s opened his boundaries account and how. He smashes a shot through the off-side and it’s gone through Hussey’s hands for four. WICKET! West Indies 57-2 after 7.2 overs Marlon Samuels b Cummins 26 (20b, 2x4, 2x6) Samuels first lifts Cummins over the covers for four and then gets completely baffled by the slower ball. It’s dead-eye and the middle stump is gone. West Indies 53-1 after 7 overs Gayle 22, Samuels 16 It’s six-hitting time. First Gayle goes over mid-wicket with a flick of his wrist and then Samuels goes right down the ground for six more. West Indies 33-1 after 5 overs Gayle 10, Samuels 8 There we go! Crack of the bat and Gayle has sent it out of the park. Huge six… humongous actually. West Indies 24-1 after 4 overs Gayle 4, Samuels 7 No boundaries for Gayle yet, but Samuels is off the mark in that department. His drive is full faced and unstoppable. [caption id=“attachment_481226” align=“alignleft” width=“380”] ![](https://images.firstpost.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/10/Gayle-Windies-2-Reuters.jpg "Gayle-Windies-2-Reuters") Gayle is the key man for Windies. Reuters[/caption] WICKET! West Indies 16-1 after 2.5 overs Johnson Charles c Wade b Starc 10 (13b, 2x4, 0x6) Soft dismissal. Charles frees his arms, can’t connect with the ball and edges one to Wade. Samuels is up next. West Indies 12-0 after 2 overs Charles 9, Gayle 1 Charles has played a couple of solid shots which race away to the boundary. The first one through mid-wicket was a treat. West Indies 2-0 after 1 over Charles 1, Gayle 0 One extra and a single. That’s all that has happened at the moment. Maybe because Gayle hasn’t played a single delivery. West Indies have won the toss and will bat first Australia team:  Shane Watson, David Warner, Mike Hussey, George Bailey, Cameron White, David Hussey, Mathew Wade, Bradd Hogg, Pat Cummins, Mitchell Starc, Xavier Doherty West Indies team: Johnson Charles, Chris Gayle, Marlon Samuels, Dwayne Bravo, Kieron Pollard, Andre Russell, Denesh Ramdin, Darren Sammy, Sunil Narine, Ravi Rampaul, Samuel Badree
