D Gukesh vs Ding Liren LIVE Updates: After losing the first match in the World Chess Championship 2024 and drawing the second one, Indian Grandmaster D Gukesh will look to clinch his first victory against Ding Liren on Wednesday (27 November) . Gukesh currently trails 0.5-1.5 against reigning world champions Liren of China and a victory on Thursday will help him avoid giving the 32-year-old a significant advantage in the high-stakes world chess title battle. Game three of the World Chess Championship 2024 will be played from 2.30 PM IST on Wednesday (27 November) at the Resorts World Sentosa in Singapore and we will bring you all the live updates on our blog.
What happened in first two matches between Gukesh and Ding Liren?
Gukesh lost the first match while playing with white pieces as he was forced to resign after the 42nd move. This was Liren’s first classical chess game win in 304 days. The second match between Liren and Gukesh ended in a draw after 23 moves, with Liren maintaining his lead over the 18-year-old Indian Grandmaster.
A victory in Round 3 of the World Chess Championship 2024 will be highly significant for Gukesh as he will be able to level the score and stop Liren from taking a massive lead. The World Chess Champions 2024 will break for a rest day on Thursday (28 November) before resuming on Friday (29 November).
