D Gukesh vs Ding Liren Game 5 LIVE Updates: Gukesh aims to move into lead for the first time in the World Championship

Hello and welcome to our live coverage of Game 5 of the ongoing FIDE World Chess Championship in Singapore with reigning champion Ding Liren and his challenger D Gukesh set to lock horns less than 24 hours after playing out a sedate draw.

Can Ding regain the lead for the first time since winning the opening game? Or will Gukesh collect a second win in three games and move into the lead for the first time? Stay tuned to find out.

World Chess Championship 2024 Game 5 Preview: Indian Grandmaster D Gukesh will be aiming to surge ahead of Ding Liren for the first time in the 2024 World Chess Championship in the fifth game on Saturday. The two players currently are tied on two points with one win each along with a couple of draws, the latest of which took place on Friday in a game that was decided in 42 moves. Gukesh had entered the World Championship showdown at the Resorts World Sentosa in Singapore as the strong favourite, and he will be hoping to live up to that billing with a second victory in three games on Sunday, and build a solid lead before the second ‘Rest Day’ on Monday.

While Ding had won the opening game to give Gukesh, who became the youngest Candidates champion in Toronto earlier this year, a rude wake-up call, the Indian bounced back two games later with a resounding victory to go level with the Chinese Grandmaster.

World Chess Championship 2024 Game 5 Details

The Game 5 between Ding Liren and D Gukesh will take place from 2.30 PM IST at the Resorts World Sentosa in Singapore on 30 November (Saturday).
