The World Athletics Championships 2025 will take place in Tokyo from September 13 to 21. India will have a total of 19 athletes competing this time, which is fewer than the 28 who went to the 2023 edition in Budapest. The biggest attraction for Indian fans will be javelin throw star Neeraj Chopra, who will be in action again.
All eyes will be on Chopra and his matchup with Pakistan’s Olympic gold medallist Arshad Nadeem. This is the first time Chopra and Nadeem will compete in the same competition since the 2024 Paris Olympics, where the Pakistani thrower snatched the gold medal from defending champion Chopra.
Chopra recently won the second prize at the Diamond League final in Zurich, where he threw 85.01m. Earlier this year, the Indian star registered his first-ever 90m-mark at the Doha Diamond League. He will look to defend his title in Tokyo with yet another massive effort.
When and where will Neeraj Chopra’s World Athletics Championships 2025 match take place?
The World Athletics Championships 2025 will take place in Tokyo from September 13 to 21 at the Japan National Stadium. Neeraj Chopra will be in action in the men’s javelin qualification on September 17, and if he qualifies, the final will be on September 18. This is the same stadium where Neeraj had won the gold medal at 2020 Tokyo Olympics.
