June 29th I love Wimbledon. The grass on day one is one of the best sights in sports. I just wish Roger had a shot though. He has had an extra week to prepare, is number two in the world and has won this seven times but there is no conceivable way even I, a die-hard Federer fan, can picture him winning Wimbledon again. It is probably going to be Novak or Murray. Oh well, I just hope he makes a good run at it. [caption id=“attachment_2330956” align=“alignleft” width=“380”]
A smiling Roger Federer is through to the quarters at Wimbledon. Reuters[/caption] June 30th Wow…Federer just breezed through that first round. Don’t think I have seen him look this good in years…. Stop it you idiot…haha. Look at me getting carried away. Old habit. It is just the first round. Week two is far away. July 2nd Yay, he won the second round easily as well but we know who is in his half of the draw so let us just relax. Focus is still on reaching week two and making a good run. I just enjoy watching him play. (Later that evening) What is going on here? Who the hell is Dustin Brown? What is this tennis? Drop, run up, lob, run back, drop again. Rafa is looking as settled as Greece. What just happened??? So Rafa is out? Hmmm… July 4th There it is, Federer dropped a set against Sam Groth of all people. No disrespect Sam, but if Federer is dropping a set to you then obviously a loss is around the corner. Anyway, at least he is in to week two. My guess is Roger will be done by Monday or Wednesday at best. Unfortunate, but it is what it is. At his age to win a two-week tournament with best of five sets is a lot to ask. July 6th Ok, I am allowed to get a little bit-excited right? I mean he manhandled Bautista. I don’t want to say it at the risk of jinxing it, but the word “vintage” is coming to mind. Somebody please stop me. I better go to sleep before I get too excited. Early July 7th Hold on a second. Novak has been taken to the fifth by Kevin Anderson? Kevinnnnnnnn Kevin (chants). When they restart it is going to be epic. Let me work this out quickly. It is all becoming clear. Destiny has a weird way of working. Kevin is going to take out Novak. Federer will cruise past Simon and then will face Murray, who will probably win his quarterfinal against Pospisil. So that sets up a beauty of a semi-final for Friday. Friday will unravel so:. Federer will win the first set then lose the second. Win the third in a tiebreak and then break early in the fourth to beat Murray. The locals will be crushed but who cares about them. It’s Federer Time. On the other side, with Novak sitting at home, “Stan the Man” Wawrinka will have no trouble winning his semi-final to make Sunday an all-Swiss affair. Sunday will be a great day. Stan will make a match out of it but it is Centre Court and there is no way he is going to have enough to beat Roger over here. The legend holds up the golden trophy one more time, his kids look super cute in the box, Edberg smiles, Mirka cries and at home I cry as well. IT IS ON! Check list of things to do. Cancel Friday’s dinner; figure out where I am watching the final. Don’t wear my lucky clothes prior to Sunday. But first, lets go to the temple and pray for our dear South African - Kevin Anderson. Can’t believe Federer is going to win Wimbledon.
