Ah, the luck! Craig Stapleton, a 51-year-old skydiver, survived despite a fall from 8,000 feet — after his parachute failed to open during a jump. The only injuries he suffered were a few bruises and a dislocated shoulder. Both his primary and backup parachutes failed, and the whole event was captured on video (see below).
He was quoted on ABCNews.com as saying: “I thought, ‘God hates me.’ I felt like nothing was going right here. I knew I was going to die. I thought, ‘If I live through this, I’ll have months of rehab.’” [caption id=“attachment_667166” align=“alignleft” width=“380”] Representational image. The ground the grapes were growing in had recently been mulched, making his landing much softer than normal.
