Picture this - going down to sit and feeling air instead of chair before tumbling to the floor. Happens to the best of us, right? But imagine falling down at a high-profile cricket match at an iconic ground with your fall being telecast all over the world — much to the amusement of both the spectators and the player. [caption id=“attachment_2352058” align=“alignleft” width=“380”] A screengrab from the YouTube video.[/caption] This is exactly what happened with an unsuspecting fan at the Lord’s cricket ground during the recently-concluded second Ashes Test. The fan in question was a young woman who went to sit down on her seat but ended up on the floor instead, thanks to what Sky Sports called ‘invisible seats.’ Much to her embarrassment, her fall was captured by the camera and was not only played on the big screen at the stadium but also telecast live on TV. And after repeated replays, some even in slow-mo, the woman had the good grace to bow to the crowd while they applauded her sportsmanship. But the highlight of the whole incident was not the fall itself, but the cricketers’ reactions to it. The Australian second innings was on with David Warner and Chris Rogers on strike and England’s Joe Root bowling. And the usually fierce competitors on field were united in their sniggers. Root couldn’t stop his grin as he prepared to bowl while Warner was flat out laughing. A commentator also mentioned that Chris Rogers had to pull away from strike to laugh it out — and that how the fall was a cunning plan from England to get wickets! While the Lord’s Test will be remembered for a comprehensive Australian win and Steve Smith’s record-breaking double ton, it will be this moment, seeing Root and Warner giggling together, that will also be one of the most memorable.
