Serena Williams and Novak Djokovic were crowned Wimbledon champions and are at the top of the tennis world, literally. And what better way to celebrate this victory than by having an impromptu dance.
The two champions shook a leg on stage at the Wimbledon Ball, the traditional post-tournament celebration for winners, to the Bee Gees number Night Fever. However, this was no classic ballroom song and nor were the two aiming at one. The ‘dance of champions’ is a tradition not followed anymore. However, the 2015 champions decided to revive it in their very own style.
Dressed in a sharp tuxedo and elegant gown, Djokovic and Serena danced in the typical club style with plenty of hand-clapping and hip-shaking. There were also a couple of disco moves thrown in with Djokovic doing a pseudo-Travolta step. At one point, the Serb actually went down on his knee as he applauded Serena’s moves. The two seemed to be having a ball, literally, despite the rather awkward chemistry.
Earlier, Djokovic had spoken about how he would like to dance with Serena at the annual champions’ event, praising her extraordinary achievement of ‘Serena Slam’ or holding all four Grand Slams at the same time. “Maybe I have a dance with her, if they allow me. She has achieved something incredible. So much respect for her. She’s an unbelievable competitor. I hope for her that she makes the Slam. She deserves that,” he had said.
Looks like Djokovic is getting all his wishes fulfilled!
