But when it came to domestic cricket, he made a triple-century in only his second innings which shot him to fame. He may have been in and out of the Indian team, but once established for Mumbai, he captained them to their 38th and 39th Ranji title, as well as leading West Zone to a 16th Duleep Trophy success in early 2010. When he came onto the scene in 1996/97, a debut half-century against Uttar Pradesh helped him on his way to a long career. At the age 33, it is safe to say that the batsman has a few years ahead of him. Mumbai have made their way into the quarter-finals of the Ranji Trophy after negotiating their way from the group stages.
