Transfer Window: From Manchester United 'landing' Romelu Lukaku to Alexandre Lacazette joining Arsenal

The highlight of this week’s transfer window is a twist in the Romelu Lukaku-Chelsea saga with reports stating that Manchester United have agreed a £75 million deal for Everton striker Romelu Lukaku. It is also reported that United have ended their interest in Real Madrid striker Alvaro Morata. But according to Sky Sports reporter Jim White, Everton sources have denied that a deal has been agreed between United and Everton.

Sources tell me "no deal reached" between @everton and @ManUtd for Romelu Lukaku. Reports of £75m fee agreement "incorrect."

Who do we believe? Chelsea fans will be annoyed if Lukaku’s move to United materialises, the club have been in the pole position to re-sign the Belgian striker three years after selling him to Everton. Arsenal, meanwhile, announced the signing of long-term target Alexandre Lacazette for a club record €60 million.

Lukaku’s reported move to United would set the wheels in motion for Arsenal striker Olivier Giroud to join Everton in a £20 million deal. ESPN  report that the Toffees have tabled a bid of £20 million for the French forward whose future at Arsenal has become uncertain after the signing of Lacazette. The Telegraph reports that wantaway forward Alexis Sanchez has demanded he be paid £400,000 a week to stay at Arsenal which is £125,00 more than the wages Arsenal have offered the Chilean star. Talk about being pricey. Arsenal are plotting a move for Monaco winger Thomas Lemar according to the Evening Standard. The French club reportedly rejected the Gunners’ bid of £30 million with Monaco demanding close to £60 million for the player. The Sun reports that Wenger has also submitted a combined bid of £70 million for Sporting Lisbon duo William Carvalho and Gelson Martins. If Bleacher Report is to be believed, Arsenal right-back Hector Bellerin will ask the club to let him leave with childhood club Barcelona being the Spaniard’s dream club. Moving across London, The Guardian report that Atletico Madrid are preparing to offer Chelsea £22 million for former striker Diego Costa. Costa’s relationship with Antonio Conte had been strained after the Spanish striker tried a force a big-money move to China in January and he revealed that Conte had texted Costa that he wasn’t part of the manager’s plans anymore. The Mirror reports that Chelsea youngster Nathaniel Chalobah is close to joining Watford for a fee of £5 million. With the signing of Tiemoué Bakayoko imminent, the England youth player is looking to leave the Premier League champions for more game time. The Express, meanwhile, report that Real Madrid have received a £22 million offer from Chelsea for their Brazilian defender Danilo. The player is himself in favour of a move as he eyes a starting spot in the national team at the 2018 World Cup. Liverpool star Philippe Coutinho is a target for Paris Saint-Germain with the French giants plotting a move worth £70 million for the Brazilian midfielder. According to The Express, PSG have turned their attention towards Coutinho after failing in their pursuit for Real Madrid star Cristiano Ronaldo and Monaco starlet Kylian Mbappe. ESPN reports that Spanish rivals Real Madrid and Barcelona are battling it out for 2017 European Under-21 Championship player of the tournament Dani Ceballos who has a release clause of €15 million. The Real Betis midfielder told reporters that he’ll make announcement in two weeks’ time. Real Madrid have announced the signing of French left-back Theo Hernandez from bitter rivals Atletico Madrid for €24 miilion. The talented Frenchman was sent out on loan to La Liga side Deportivo Alaves last season where he helped the Basque club reach the final of the Copa del Rey where they lost to Barcelona. If ESPN is to be believed, Sevilla winger Vitolo is expected to join Atletico Madrid; albeit in a roundabout fashion. With the Rojiblancos facing a transfer ban which prevents them from registering any players till January, the Spanish international will go on loan to La Liga side Las Palmas for the first half of the season. Atletico and Sevilla are close to agreeing a €40 miilion move for Vitolo who has also been target for Antonio Conte’s Chelsea. And we roundup this week’s transfer news update with this tweet by Aston Villa announcing the signing of Chelsea legend John Terry.
