Cameron Norrie has finally revealed the heated conversation Nicolas Jarry had with him after losing an epic five-setter at the No. 1 Court on Sunday at Wimbledon 2025. Britain’s Norrie outlasted Chilean Jarry’s 103 winners to win the 6-3, 7-6(4), 6-7(7), 6-7(5), 6-3 and become only the fourth British man in the Open Era to reach the quarter-finals at Wimbledon on multiple occasions.

Despite both the players putting in a performance to remember, the highlight of the match became the argument between Norrie and Jarry during the post-match handshake. Even before the match had ended, Jarry had complained to chair umpire Eva Asderaki-Moore about Norrie bouncing the ball too many times before serving.

The 29-year-old Jarry sought to seek clarification from Asderaki-Moore on what was the rule regarding bouncing the balls before service. However, he wasn’t able to get an injunction against Norrie.

Later the pair was seen discussing the matter after the match ended as Jarry clearly looked frustrated.

Revealing the details of the conversation, Norrie explained why they were engaged in a conversation for that long. “He said I was a little bit vocal and I think that’s my energy. I was pulling from my team and then I just said ‘man, you competed so well and hung in there so well and it was an amazing competitive match’,” Norrie said.

“I love it, I loved the Chilean fans too and you guys definitely pulled me through the match there at the end.”

Norrie even praised Jarry for playing a brilliant match. “I think credit to Nicolas for staying with me. He played better than me in both tiebreaks and deserved it.

“I didn’t want to let his game style bother me. I had to keep fighting and I forgot to get my coach a birthday present, it’s his birthday today. I had to get him something so I got him the win.”

Pat Cash backs Norrie amid bouncing balls controversy

Meanwhile, former Australian tennis star Pat Cash felt Norrie was within his rights, bouncing the ball multiple times as he did not break any rule.

“But I don’t think Cam does it that extreme. Novak [Djokovic] used to bounce the ball 20 or 30 times. He is regrouping himself and that’s the anomaly of the rule. I don’t agree with quite a few of the silly rules of tennis that they have.

“But Norrie is within his rights to do so. You can go for a toilet break. I went for two toilet breaks in my whole career over five sets, but they go every set. So as he (Jarry) said, I don’t mind you as a player, but that’s a bit extreme. He has got a bit of a point there, I suppose. I have not seen Cam bounce the ball that much, I have to be honest. So maybe this is something that he has decided. I am a bit tired, I just need extra breathing space between points.

“I have never seen him bounce the ball that much, so maybe that is just something he has done today.”
