Indian batting legend Sachin Tendulkar and Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola were among the host of sporting icons present at the Wimbledon Centre Court on Saturday.
Tendulkar, however, wasn’t the only cricket star present at the Centre Court on the sixth day of competition , with England red-ball and white-ball captains Ben Stokes and Jos Buttler as well as star batter Joe Root also present in the VIP section of the iconic arena.
Tendulkar received a hearty ovation after he was introduced to the Centre Court crowd by the announcer, and he acknowledge the adulation with folded hands.
“We are also joined by legend of the game from India, another World Cup winner and the all-time run-scorer in cricket history. Please welcome Sachin Tendulkar,” said the announcer.

Stokes, Buttler and Root — who were part of the 2019 ODI World Cup-winning England team — also received an equally heartwarming response from the crowd.

Tendulkar and the rest of the notable attendees were present during Alexander Zverev’s third-round clash against Cam Norrie, which the former ended up winning 6-4, 6-4, 7-6 (15).
Two-time Grand Slam finalist Zverev would later make special mention of City boss Guardiola, who also had successful spells with other leading clubs such as FC Barcelona and Bayern Munich, in his post-match interview after defeating the Briton.

“When I saw Pep Guardiola I got so nervous for a few games,” Zverev said after his third-round victory.
“If you’re tired of football you can coach me on a tennis court any time,” added the German.
