Serbian tennis great Novak Djokovic and two-time Wimbledon champion Andy Murray have impressed fans over the years with their sensational skills on the court. The two tennis stars have now enthralled social media users once again, albeit in a hitherto unknown role. In a video shared by ATP Tour on social media platform X, formerly Twitter, Djokovic and Murray, along with some other big names of the game, can be seen showing off their impeccable acting skills. “The Tour: A Reality Show. 52 seasons in the making, a look at the lives and loves of ‘professional’ tennis players as they serve nothing but drama, attitude and aces,” read the post shared by the official social media handle of ATP. The video jokingly portrays tennis stars played by actors who get a script at the start of every year to enact. The now-viral five-minute clip suggests, of course on a lighter note, that the world of tennis is fake, with stalwarts like Djokovic and Murray taking starring roles.

“I think that’s what people don’t realise, it’s all just scripted. The players, the matches, it’s all just kind of made up. It’s a bit like wrestling or the reality TV shows, none of it’s real. We get our storylines at the start of the year and we try to make everything look natural. Let’s face it, people are stupid so they’ll buy anything,” says Murray. “I’ve been part of this show for 16, 17 years, or ATP seasons, as we call them. Something that I’m really trying to evoke with this Novak character is not just the performance and the achievements, but a bit more of an essence. A bit more of a personality. I try to have people relate to him. I want to bring truth to Novak. What is he thinking? What is he feeling? What would motivate him if he was a real person? It’s not easy but it works,” says Djokovic, or actor Bert Critchley, as suggested in the skit shared by ATP. Djokovic can also be seen practising his famous ‘Hulk’ moment from the Cincinnati Masters in August 2023. Apart from Djokovic and Murray, other star performers of the game, including Dominic Thiem, Andrey Rublev and Gael Monfils can also be seen talking about the production of the spoof TV series ‘The Tour.’
