India’s Sumit Nagal made a comeback to the Australian Open men’s singles main draw for the first time since 2021 after registering a victory in the tournament’s qualifying final on Friday. The 26-year-old Indian defeated Slovakia’s Alex Molcan 6-4, 6-4 to enter the main round of the Australian Open after a gap of three years. He will face Kazakhstan’s Alexander Bublik in the first round of the Grand Slam event, with the match taking place at 5.30 am IST on 14 January (Sunday). Nagal is currently ranked 139th in the singles ranking and has also played in the main round of the US Open in 2019 and 2020.
