Serena Williams’ latest cryptic social media post has once again reignited the rumours that the legendary tennis player is planning to return to the court professionally. The rumours that Williams, a 23-time Grand Slam winner, would return to tennis began after she re-entered the tennis anti-doping testing pool.
Mostly, only active athletes register their names in the tennis anti-doping testing pool. Also, a player needs to be available for out-of-competition testing for a minimum of six months before taking part in an event. All of these gave rise to the gossip that the former world No 1 Williams is set to return to tennis as a player.
Serena drops latest comeback tease
But the 44-year-old refuted the reports by stating that she was not going to make any comeback.
“Omg yall I’m NOT coming back. This wildfire is crazy,” she wrote on X.

However, on Thursday, she made another post on X that has rekindled the rumours as she spoke about regaining her “mojo”.
“Feeling strongly about claiming my mojo back,” Williams tweeted.

Billie Jean King on Serena’s possible return
Now, tennis great Billie Jean King, who won 39 Grand Slam titles in her career, including 12 in singles, has shared her views on Serena’s possible return to the tennis court.
“I think she wants to try to play again. But I think she’s also very bright and very smart that she knows she’s not going to be No 1 again," King told Sky Sports. “But if you love to play, why not? I mean, she’s all set in life. She doesn’t need it financially, and she enjoys it.
King added that she would “love” to see Williams return to tennis.
“I met her when she was six and [sister] Venus was seven at a tennis clinic we gave in Long Beach, California. They came with their dad Richard. It was an amazing day. I’ll never forget it.
“We had the kids hit back and forth from the audience. Because they’re so exceptional. You could see right away they’re exceptional.
“Personally, I would love it [if Williams came back].”
There’s a belief that Serena may return to women’s doubles with her sister Venus, but then she won’t be able to equal the great Margaret Court’s record of 24 singles major titles.
